Pattern above and beneath / heaven and earth

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts (…) saith the LORD.” Isa 55:8
“If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus (…) and be renewed in the spirit of your mind”
Eph 4:21, 23
“But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ” Eph 4:15

His thougts – our thoughts … His heart – our heart

Beneath = heart and mind of man, the first Adam (1 Cor 15)
Above = heart and mind of the second Adam (1 Cor 15)
Earth = heart and mind of man, the first Adam (1 Cor 15)
Heaven = heart and mind of the second Adam (1 Cor 15)

Beneath
(heart and mind of man, the first Adam)

“And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.” John 8:23

“The way of life is above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath.” Prov 15:24

“Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house” Matt 24:17

House refers to our mind. I explain this in my book. When we go up (Prov 15:24), referring to our spirital growth to the image of Yeshua (Eph 4:15), we can not go down to take any thing out of our ‘house’ (Matt 24:17). In this context, our house refers to the ‘house’ of man: heart and mind of man. We go ‘up’ when we grow in His truth (Eph 4:15). We go ‘down’ if we fill our ‘house’ with lies and delusions from ‘beneath’. If we want to futher grow ‘up’, we can not take any thing out of our ‘house’ beneath.

Above
(heart and mind of the second Adam)

“And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.” John 8:23

“He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.” Eph 4:10

“For what portion of God is there from above? and what inheritance of the Almighty from on high?” Job 31:2

“The way of life is above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath.” Prov 15:24

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” James 1:17

What is it, that comes down from above?

“And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.”
Deut 8:3

“This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.” John 6:58

It is the spiritual bread that comes down from above: His truth and His wisdom.

“This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.” James 3:15

And these are ‘the things which are above’ we have to seek:

“If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.” Col 3:1-2

When we ‘set our affection on things above’, we fill our mind with His truth and wisdom, the spiritual bread from heaven.

“Even by the God of thy father, who shall help thee; and by the Almighty, who shall bless thee with blessings of heaven above” Genesis 49:25

“And the LORD said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law, and commandments which I have written; that thou mayest teach them.” Exodus 24:12

Moses had to climb ‘up’ to receive the words of YHWH. By filling our mind and heart with His words of truth, we metaphorically climb up, to the image of Yeshua (Eph 4:15, 21, 23). This is spiritual growth. And this is what Paul follows after:

“Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. (…) I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.” Phil 3:12, 14, 15

In the wilderness, YHWH was ‘above’ His people:

“And the cloud of the LORD was upon them by day, when they went out of the camp.” Num 10:34

“And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel.” Exodus 25:22

And in the beginning He was ‘above’ as well:

“And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.” Genesis 1:2

Earth
(heart and mind of man, the first Adam)

The earth is connected with lies and delusions. With sin that comes forth from the heart and mind of man.

“The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.” 1 Cor 15:47

“For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.” Eccl. 7:20

“The earth is given into the hand of the wicked” Job 9:24

“The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.” Genesis 6:11

“And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.” Genesis 6:5

The thoughts of the heart of man is evil continually.

“And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.” Genesis 1:2

The heart and mind of man of the earth are ‘void’.

“When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.”
Genesis 4:12

We are spiritual fugitives and vagabonds when we fill our mind with lies and delusions of the earh. With a mind full of lies and delusions of the earth, we do not come to the destination He desired for us (spiritual growth). It is ‘wine’ we have been made drunk with:

“With whom [the great whore, vs 1] the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.” Rev 17:2

We commit fornication when we do not set our eyes on the One we belong to. We commit fornication when our heart and mind go out to lies and delusions instead of YHWH.

“He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all.”
John 3:31

Man of the earth speaks of the earth. And that are not His words of truth and wisdom from above. Man of the earth speaks lies and delusions from the ‘thoughts of his heart’ (Gen 6:5). We must not fill our mind and heart wit that:

“Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter.” James 5:5

“If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.” Col 3:1-2

When we think ‘those things which are above’, His words (His truth and wisdom) destroy like fire out of heaven the lies and delusions of the earth in our mind:

“Out of heaven he made thee to hear his voice, that he might instruct thee: and upon earth he shewed thee his great fire; and thou heardest his words out of the midst of the fire.” Deut 4:36

In Hebr 6:8 the fire also destroys the lies and delusions of the earth:

“But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned.” Hebr 6:8

Thorns and briers refer to lies and delusions the earth brings forth.

“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal” Matt 6:19

In Matt. 13:44 Yeshua speaks a parable about a treasure in the field. Isa 45:3 calls this treasure hidden riches. In Col. 2:2-3 we get a clue about this treasure: it is wisdom and knowledge, hidden in Yeshua. This is the treasure we must lay up in heaven. The treasure upon earth is the opposite: ‘wisdom’ and ‘knowledge’ of man.

“Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry” Col 3:5

This refers to the lies and delusions in our mind and heart. We mortify these by filling our mind and heart with His truth (Col 3:1-2). The spiritual battle on earth is in our mind. It is the battle between His truth and the lies and delusions in our mind (2 Cor 10:3-5).

Heaven
(heart and mind of the second Adam)

“Is not God in the height of heaven?” Job 22:12

“The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.” Psalm 14:2-3

“The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.” 1 Cor 15:47

“He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all.”
John 3:31

“He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.” Eph 4:10

“If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?” John 3:12

The heavenly things is His truth, that He gives us from heaven:

“Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.” John 6:32

“This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.” John 6:50

“This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.” John 6:58

“Even by the God of thy father, who shall help thee; and by the Almighty, who shall bless thee with blessings of heaven above” Genesis 49:25

His Word of truth comes from heaven:

“And the LORD said unto Moses, Thus thou shalt say unto the children of Israel, Ye have seen that I have talked with you from heaven.”
Exodus 20:22

“Out of heaven he made thee to hear his voice, that he might instruct thee: and upon earth he shewed thee his great fire; and thou heardest his words out of the midst of the fire.” Deut 4:36

And these are the treasures we have to lay up:

“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal” Matt 6:19-20

If it does not come down from heaven, it are lies and delusions. And we must not fill our mind and heart with that:

“John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.” John 3:27

When we fill our mind with His truth from heaven, our mind is ‘clothed upon’ with His thoughts from heaven (Isa 55:8):

“For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven” 2 Cor 5:2

House refers to our mind. If like Paul, your desire is that your thoughts will be ‘clothed upon’ with His thoughts (Isa 55:8), then His ‘house’ or ‘tabernacle’ is with you and He dwells with you.

“And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.” Revelation 21:3
