“Thou shalt not sow thy vineyard with divers seeds” Deuteronomy 22:9
There are two types of seed. And we are not allowed to mix them. We find these two types of seed also in Matthew 13.
“And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow” Matthew 13:3
When we read further, we see in verse 19 Yeshua explaining that this seed is the Word. The Word of the Kingdom He teaches (see also verse 37). And that is the Word of truth (John 17:17). This is the good seed.
Further in this chapter, in verse 25, another seed is sown: tares. That is the bad seed. If the good seed refers to His truth, then the bad seed refers to lies and delusions.
This seed was sown when men slept (verse 25). And that is why we must be vigilant.
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour” 1 Peter 5:8
The adversary wants to devour our mind by ‘sowing’ lies and delusions.
“But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.” Matthew 24:43
In the Bible, house refers to our mind and heart. And we should not let them ‘broken up’ by lies and delusions. We must keep our mind and heart:
“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” Proverbs 4:23
A few verses back is written how we must keep our mind and heart: with His words (verses 20 and 21).
Our mind and heart are not automatically filled with His truth. Action is required to accept His truth in our mind and heart; and then it will have effect as written in a.o. Ephesians 4:17-32. When it comes to His truth in our mind and heart, we cannot afford to be passive.
“And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.” Mark 13:37
