“Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.” Isaiah 12:3
“But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.” John 4:14
In John 4, Yeshua says that we must drink the living water that He gives. This message was already hidden in Isaiah 12 and was revealed by Yeshua in that moment. How? The Hebrew word translated with ‘salvation’ in Isaiah 12:3 is: Yeshua! So in Isaiah 12:3 it says literally: Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of Yeshua! And that water is the living water that He wants to give us.
In my book I explain that water refers to the truth that comes to us from Above. It is the water that comes from the Rock, and that Rock also refers to Yeshua (1 Corinthians 10:4, Isaiah 48:21). His truth is what gives us joy, because it removes the lies and delusions – that keep us bound – from our heart and mind. His truth is what sets us free (John 8:32).
In Psalm 51 joy is connected with His truth as well. In this Psalm, David confesses his sin and acknowledges that His truth must be within us (verse 6). Then David says in verse 8 that he wants to hear joy and gladness. What David wants to hear, we read in verse 6: His truth and wisdom. Truth and wisdom are thus connected with joy in this Psalm, the same Hebrew word for joy (sasown) used in Isaiah 12:3. And Psalm 119:111 states that His truth (testimonies) are the rejoicing (sasown) of our heart.
Finally we also see sasown in this text:
“thy word was unto me the joy [sasown] and rejoicing of mine heart” Jeremiah 15:16
